Location:  Angus Glen Farms; 3050 Station Road; Watkins Glen, NY
Date: Saturday July 24, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Contact:  Please preregister by contacting Brett Chedzoy at bjc226 AT cornell.edu, or by calling   Schuyler CCE at 607-535-7161.

The workshop emphasizes three areas: safety, silviculture, and technique. Participants at this workshop will learn how to inspect equipment and tools, utilize safe practices, understand basic silvicultural principles, and make appropriate tree selection choices for multiple ownership objectives. Also, participants will observe directional felling using a felling plan and observe the use of an ATV and arch for moving sawlogs and firewood. The course is designed for novice to intermediate woodland owners and anyone interested in learning about and discussing sustainable woodland practices.  Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared for walking on moderately rough ground. Hard hats are encouraged.
Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension South Central NY Agriculture Team, The Cornell Arnot Forest Conservation Education Program and the NY Forest Owners Association Southern Finger Lakes Chapter.
