Yes, fair enough. Subtlety, of course, was prized among
sophisticated Greek authors. Paul is fairly rough and
ready in his expression, but I do not think that means
a lack of deep thought. On the contrary, the best
thinkers often have a certain rawness and directness.

Another quality of Paul is his rapid movement from one
angle or figure to another. As regards his arguemnt, he
has a difficult task in trying to convince a largely Greek
audience of the truth of biblical values and of a particu-
lar eschatology, or, as you say:
> ideas not shared by his audience.
