Dear Jeffrey,
I think you are relying too much on Paul's statement about where he received
or didn't receive his doctrine. Paul perceived himself not to have gotten
his views from anyone and so attributes it to Christ. This is not the hard
and fast datum you assume it to be. This is only Paul's personal
experience. How many times have you voiced an opinion that you thought was
your own, only to have realized much later that you actually learned it from
someone else, heard it from someone else. People do that all the time.
People are not very good at judging where they get their ideas from. I
agree he is very adamant about it. He certainly believes himself not to
have received his thoughts from anyone. That is the only thing you can
conclude from his statements, however. You cannot conclude anything else.

Best,
Liz
