Dear All,
Recently the US congress voted to allow school buildings to post the ten
commandments on its walls.

I am wondering what Paul would have thought of this, would he have approved?
These schools are for the most part filled with Gentile Christian children.
Would Paul have thought the posting of these laws "Judaizing?"
The ten commandments contain a reference to 1) the Sabbath, 2) coveting,
about neither of which does Paul have much good to say. Would Paul have
thought that teaching children these laws would make them *more* likely to
disobey them? If the children are obligated by these laws, are they
obligated to the whole of Torah???

I am having a lot of trouble understanding the Christian attitude toward the
ten commandments. I deduce from the desire to post these on school walls
that Christians consider themselves obligated by these particular ten. Is
this a correct assumption? Is this consistent with Pauline teaching? Would
Paul have approved?

Sincerely,

Liz
