Hey, Bill.

For various reasons--message length, the amount of space messages take up on
a server, a desire to make messages easy to read and discuss--it's generally
a good idea not to send messages to the group that consist of nothing but
chunks of Bible text linked together with running comments. You can trust
most people on this list to look things up for themselves--most of us will
have New Testaments close at hand all of the time.

You could have made the same points you made in this post by simply saying
something like:

"Matthew 28 contains the more general commission, to go to all the world.
Yet even then, Paul understood that the Gospel was "to the Jew first and
also to the Gentile." Etc., etc., etc. It's shorter, easier to discuss and
respond to. Also, most people will quickly skip over messages that are
nothing but chunks of quotations--they're more likely to discuss ideas and
concepts that are expressed in other ways.

*Also*, I believe list protocol requires that all posters identify
themselves
through some kind of signature at the end of the message. This usually
includes: their names; if they're students, pastors, laypeople, professors,
or whatever; institution or hometown or somesuch.

I'm glad you're part of the list! Grace,

Perry L. Stepp
