Any real-world case where this has happened?

FDL with respect to the works to which the compatibility applied would be the most prominent one.

The only other license which comes to mind as one which allows one-way compatibility is the Lesser GPL, and the use of that one is specifically discouraged by its creators.

Also each new CC license is one-way compatible with previous versions of the same license.

One-way compatibility is great if you're upgrading the license to a new one and deprecating the old one.
