check ccMixter's site.
http://ccmixter.org/media/view/media/samples

more specificly, here are the Works i originally had
in mind:
http://ccmixter.org/freestylemix/people/wired

although orginially i wanted to use these, which are
A-NC-SA 2.5.
http://bush-of-ghosts.com/remix/bush_of_ghosts.htm

original 24-track recordings, all pieced out nicely.

but the Wired magazine stuff on ccMixter, particulary
David Byrne's song, is a whole mp3. i'm guessing that
plays a part in the artist not worrying so much about
derivative works and what comes of them, when everyone
has to download the entire song and then chop it up
and it's encoded at a low bitrate to begin with.
