Hi everybody,

I want to let you know about the Workshop on Asia and Commons being organized in Taipei for Jan 18-20. All are welcome to attend. For more details and to sign up you can go to the workshop wiki at:
http://meeting.creativecommons.org.tw/

Here is the basic info so far:
---------------------
ACIA: Asia and Commons in the Information Age  — An International Workshop
 Date: January 19-20, 2008
Place: Taipei, Taiwan

Introduction

 The ACIA workshop is a self-sponsored meeting organized by people who are working on commons-related projects in the Asia Pacific region. The workshop aims to provide a forum for people to discuss the cultural, social, and legal aspects of  commons in the information age, and to provide a place for active collaborations.

The objectives of this workshop are the following:

  1. Strengthening the "Asia Commons" by bringing in more members and improving links to related organizations within the Asia Pacific region;
  2. Promoting the commons in the region, and providing a forum to develop practical strategies for this promotion;
  3. Providing a forum for industry engagement, and in particular identifying and presenting successful commercial uses of open content licensing within the region;
  4. Providing a forum for discussion of topics of importance to the Asia Commons (e.g., the meaning of 'open' in our age, and the history and role of the commons in Asia).

This workshop will be a good venue for people to formulate Asia Pacific perspectives on the issues of commons in our age, and to further prepare for presentations from these perspectives at the next iCommons Summit in Sapporo (July 30, 2008 to August 1, 2008).

The ACIA workshop is open to all people who are interested in commons and the related issues. The workshop language is English.

Feel free to let them know your suggestions and ideas for panels and events on their planning wiki.

Cheers,
