From Slackware 11 I found packages:
gtk-2.2.8 7.8MB
glib 2.2.10 1.3MB
pango 1.1.2 542K

Firefox 3 and 3.5 system requirements

gtk 2.10
glib 2.12
pango 1.1.4

X.org 1 (Slackware 7) is good enough ;=)

"Recommended for optimal functionality": DBus 1.0
- but apparently 3.5 now requires it.

To run firefox bunzip and untar then

cd firefox
./firefox (wrapper)
tells me it is missing

libdbus-glib-1.so.2.1.0

Linuxpackages.net has this for SW11 in dbus-glibc-0.74-i486-1gdz.tgz

But this library requires libdbus-1.so.3 which Slackware 11 also lacks.

(And it would be too old if it did have it).

Perhaps it could be compiled to use older libraries and no dbus. Where would I look for such a package?

--------------

DSL 4.3 (2006) used a 14.3MB binary of Bon Echo 2.0 (Gecko 2006120) Mozilla 5 i686 and kernel 2.4.31. This is Firefox 2.0.

DSL 4.4.10 still uses Firefox 2.0 GTK-1.2 i386 "with reduced space requirement".

The latest DSL DILLO does SSL, tabs and frames.
Compiling with __enable-ssl makes https readable but it does not check certificates, it says.
You need fltk2 and autogen.sh

I compiled 8.6 (later versions would not compile for me) but they are now up to 2.1.1. Steven, can you compile it for BL?

They now have gphone internet telephone.

I will attempt to get these versions working in BL.
