Going through old mail...

I did. I used a kernel which I compiled myself (didn't want to try to download
an entire Slackware kernel) but you should be able to use any decent
kernel.

Since this is BL (no bloated hotplug daemon to insert the modules for you)
you will need to insmod manually. You should start with usbcore. Now try
each of these in turn: usb-uhci usb-ohci uhci. Use the one which works
best on your PC.

Now you need to insert the SCSI modules: scsi_mod and sd_mod. The
last module is usb-storage.

The final step is to figure out how your mass storage disk is set up, and
then mount it. dmesg should give you clues. The disk may or may not
have partitions, so, assuming that you have no other SCSI devices, and
only one mass storage device plugged in:

mount /dev/sda /mnt/
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/
mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/
... etc. until it successfully mounts.

If whoever built this kernel answered 'Y' to some or all of the relevant
config questions, you may not need to insert every module listed
above.

If you need the camera transfer to work faster, and you have all-USB 2.0
hardware, you can insmod the USB 2.0 adapter host module (what is it
called?)
