[ISHINAN] - Isaac, I don't recall including "gdl" in this discussion. As for the Hebrew "gzl" (tear, tear away etc.), which is a cognate to C. Ar. "gzl" (cut off), I suggest you consult: The Brown, Driver-Briggs; Hebrew and English Lexicon p. 159 # 1497, where it is clearly stated as such.
