Looks to me like he's conflating it with the following verse.

Subject: [b-hebrew] Exodus 22:17

I recently read a reference to Donald Bretherton's suggestion that Exodus
22:17
מְכַשֵּׁפָה לֹא תְחַיֶּה
MK$PH L) TXYH

be translated
"A woman practicing magic must not restore to life any dead person or beast:
she will surely be put to death."

While I can see a few variations on "Do not allow a sorceress (or
necromancer) to live, I can't see how this translation makes sense.

Am I missing something?

Sincerly,

Michael Abernathy
