I think it is becoming clear that we have black and white ideals of name and
title but there is a whole spectrum of greys in between those two extremes.

What about 'Mum' and 'Dad' are they titles or names in the following
examples?

1) Mum! What time is it?
2) His mum gave him his pocket money.
3) We have managed to find out the identity of the child but still have no
idea who the mother is.
