Vadym:

Ephod, spelled alternately as )PD and )PWD, comes from the same root as a
verb meaning to dress, put on vestments.

In Exodus 28 and 39 it is mentioned as made of gold, blue cloth, reddish
purple cloth, and crimson cloth. Further, in 1 Samuel 2:18, 22:18, 2 Samuel
6:14 and 1 Chronicles 15:27, the ephod was listed as made of linen.

Hence my understanding that Gideon’s ephod is one made of gold thread woven
into cloth.
