Dear Pieter,

"Shebetsavaro" literally means "that is on his neck". "Sudar" is a cloth.

Please keep in mind that this forum is meant for the discussion of Biblical Hebrew, not later uses of the language.

All the best,

Yigal Levin

Hello,

In his book A History of Jewish Costume write Rubens over a sudar
shebetsavaro, a kerchief for the neck. What is the translation of
shebetsavaro? Is it 'neck'?

Can somebody please give me a answer? Thanks.

Regards,

Pieter den Dekker, Amsterdam
