Dear Steve,

The heading to the Psalm indicates that it is a Chanukkah Psalm. If so,
it is an anachronism because Chanukkah was in the 2nd century BCE. ...

Not necessarily. The Hebrew word XANUKKAH is used several times in Numbers 7 of the dedication of the Tabernacle, in 2 Chronicles 7:9 of the dedication of the altar, and in Nehemiah 12:27 of the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem; also the identical word in Aramaic of the dedication of the rebuilt Temple in Ezra 6:16,17, and of the dedication of an image in Daniel 3:2,3. There is absolutely no reason why this word should not have been used of the initial dedication of the Temple in Solomon's time. It is by no means restricted in reference to the later festival of Chanukkah.
