Jonathan, Dora, and all,

if you read German - what, in my opinion, a semiticist should be able to
do - the probably most exhaustive Ugaritic Grammar is the 1000-page
volume by Josef Tropper, which is only a few years old.

Of course it is a little bit too big for beginners.
But two years ago Josef Tropper published an additional 200-page study
tool on Ugaritic for teaching purposes, a short grammar with exercises
and glossary. It has the same structure like the big volume, so that
additional further reading and special questions is easy
access to. It is the first volume of the new Elementa Linguarum Orientis
(ELO) series. Just have a look at http://www.ugarit-verlag.de/ELO.htm.

best regards
Reinhard
