Birds of a feather department

rabbi Sacks is just a court Jew, he had no right dictating to Israel what is moral for us Jews, he did not cite the Torah, he just spouted his own opinion. According to Hashem in the Torah we were given the "west bank" and some of the EAST BANK, this is not occupied territory, this is at best disputed territory, since the entire world disputes our right to it. Did anyone chastise Jordan, which is 80% of the land designated to be Israel, which Britain illegally gave to the Hashemites because of oil, for OCCUPYING Judea and Samaria, and destroying close to 100 synagogues in Jerusalem? Of course not (rhetorical question), they only complain when the Jews LIBERATE what is OURS.

rabbi Sacks does not live in Israel, he does not feel their pain, here is what a Rabbi in Israel, no less a Rabbi than Dr. Sacks, said:

From Arutz 7, August 30

RABBI MELAMED REFUTES RABBI SACKS
Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth, caused a storm this week with an interview to The Guardian. He said he was "profoundly shocked" by reports of smiling Israeli soldiers posing for a photograph with the corpse of a slain Palestinian, and was quoted as saying, "There is no question that this kind of prolonged conflict, together with the absence of hope, generates hatreds and insensitivities that in the long run are corrupting to a culture."

Rabbi Zalman Melamed, Chief Rabbi of Beit El, responded to this comment by saying,
"The IDF is the most ethical and values-based army in the world. The IDF acts cruelly only with the cruel, in keeping with our Sages' teaching that one who is merciful to the cruel will end up being cruel to the merciful. This is the highest moral stand that can be taken. The proof that this behavior is not 'corrupting of our culture' is the fact that despite the long conflict, the IDF has remained the most moral army in the world."

The lead story in the " Anglo File " section of Ha'aretz begins:
<< British rabbis living in Israel seem largely supportive of UK Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks whose criticism of the West Bank occupation has triggered raging controversy in Britain this week. >>
