In Exodus and Leviticus, it is the cope or mantle or cloak worn by the
priests
and the High Priest. But it does appear as the covering of an idol in Isaiah
30:22, assuming that 'ePuDDaH is from the same root as 'ePoWD. This
"covering"
could be a mantle, but more likely could be a metallic plating (gold leaf?)
upon a wooden or base metal statue (Isaiah 40:19-20).
