For the sake of those who are not mother tongue speakers of the KJV, I will
explain that "abroad" in this verse does not mean "to a foreign country",
but rather "outside" or "away". I don't think it helps much to explain the
obscure by the obsolete and confusing.

In Hebrew there are similaries with Judges 12:9 in the following verses:

1Sam. 9:26 And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of
the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that
I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he
and Samuel, abroad.

The word "abroad" corresponds to "outside" in Judges 12:9. Note that Samuel
sent him from a house.
