at a quick glance, missed every work relating syntax to verbal
semantics, including Lode, Naude, Bandstra, and what I think is an
unfairly neglected paper, Nicacci 1987. there are non-longacrian
sources too, I'm thinking of,e.g., Bodine's edited volume.

but hatav is missing some of the giants in the field, most obviously
Revell's 1989 HUCA 60 paper. also there's Joosten, Hoftijzer,
Huehnergard, on so. there's a vitally important paper by Gropp 1991,
HAR 13, as well, an important but ignored work by Zevit 1988, HS 29. I
could go on.

Smith is not the only game in town, is in fact problematic. our own
Liz Cowper in U of T linguistics has done very important revisions to
such work. Comrie is a typologist, not a generativist.

but it's not just my doctoral work (1995). there was a whole slew of
work ca 1990 on, including some important work by Rattray and Creason.
and there are many projects in the pipes. the lack of this stuff says
Hatav is out of the loop: that's what I was suggesting.

my own bibliography is not exhaustive to 1995 either, I suppose. if I
missed something, 8-O I'd be grateful for notes on omissions. ;-)

cheers

...the idea of a perfect language risks becoming nothing more than a
waste bin for prejudices which have not survived confrontation with
linguistic reality.
