AFAIK, having SMP on the kernel only makes non-smp systems a bit
(probably not noticeable, especially for the install phase) slower. The
kernel simply will see the system as a SMP system with one CPU. It'll
unload from ram any extra cpu handling stuff, thus freeing up the ram.
But it doesn't really hurt anything (much) leaving it non-smp anyway.
I'm indifferent.
