[permaculture] 9-day PDC???

HI Rafter and others,
This is a fun question that I have been looking at for a while.
The qualitative experience of a PDC varies widely.
I teach a 9 unit course titled "Urban Permaculture". The total course
time is 90 hours. Students must atten every session to gain a
certificate.
It covers the basics of regular permaculture without the emphasis on
natural building and big land moving projects.
We are working on a type one error in NYC so I am going with the
destroyed field that is here.
Rafter, I am wondering if this is the course to which you are referring.
Last year I pointed my finger at other courses I thought weren't up to
the task of getting the message of permaculture transferred fully.
I am extremely interested in the process of defining course material,
ethical content and the thrust of our permaculture knowledge base.
I have concluded that these elements are highly personal and perhaps
are beyond our judgement.
There are reasons for the intensity I insist on in my own PDC. This
seems best to simulate the 14 day experience while still allowing busy
New Yorkers to continue their jobs and lives. I decided that the
message has to go out NOW. I wasn't in that place, but others
convinced me that this is really a critical time to move on earth
repair. Why not at the epicenter of the destruction?
Teachers are always coming in from elsewhere. What would you expect?
I prefer to work locally but that isn't the only model Bill Mollison
gave us.
I am ready for a really long conversation off-list (or on) or give me
a call, please.
Thanks for bringing this up.
I think some standards are a good idea. I don't know if that is
really in the nature of permaculture.
