There might be one exception to the rule. Carbon Farmers Of America http://www.carbonfarmersofamerica.com is helping farmers to do keyline plowing to reduce carbon. Carbon credits purchased from them can do some real good.

Yes, as far as I understand that is how 'carbon offsetting' works. 
Disgraceful isn't it?
