You might think so, but in fact refined cane sugar syrup is closer to nectar than unrefined sugars, which may contain a range of chemicals not found in nectar and are potentially damaging to bees. For example, feeding them on unrefined (soft brown) sugar is likely to cause dysentery and may even kill the colony. Be careful before making assumptions that just because something may be good for you, it is therefore good for bees.
