[NAFEX] Paw paws suckering

Just noticing that any of the branches that have fruit more than  
halfway out on the limbs are slowly splitting from the tree at the  
crotch.  Is this common or perhaps a nutrient deficiency or perhaps  
the the trees are getting too much nitrogen & growing too fast?
