>From the "for what it's worth" department, I was having trouble with my
septic pump wiring several years. The septic system was installed in a
rather crud way (my builder trying to save some bucks) which has cause
me some pain over the years.

There is an electric box that was installed beneath the ground about a
foot away from the tank. The area around there doesn't drain properly
and I had occasionally experienced outing from the wires shorting. On a
trip to the hardware store for parts one year, I found a wire wrap that
worked for me. It is black tube, about 4 to 6 inches in length,
somewhat rubbery in texture, and comes in several inner diameter sizes.

I had connected my wiring, and wrapped them in black tape. I then
slipped a tube over the connection, then applied a match to it. It
shrink-wrapped the tube over the connection making it water proof. That
was several years ago and I haven't had a problem since.
