Hallo to both Jims,

English plantnames are often only confusing and nonsense.
Mountain ash is nonsense (in that article) because of wrong copying.

>From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia*:

**Mountain Ash* is a name used for several unrelated trees. It may refer to:

    * /Eucalyptus regnans
      <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucalyptus_regnans>/, the tallest of
      all flowering plants
    * /Fraxinus texensis
      <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraxinus_texensis>/, an Ash tree
      <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ash_tree> species in Texas
    * Trees in the genus /Sorbus <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbus>/
      in North America (mainly U.S.A.) .
    * In Britain it is used exclusively for Sorbus aucuparia
      <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbus_aucuparia> which is also
      commonly known as Rowan <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowan>.

But sometimes even some old Latin names existing parallel. Officially
only one is the right one!
*Aronia **melanocarpa (=**Sorbus melanocarpa)
*
More synonym :/Aronia nigra/, /Sorbus melanocarpa/, /Pyrus melanocarpa/
und /Mespilus arbutifolia/ var./ melanocarpa

I am pretty sure, you are already a fan of this tree!

ciao
hans
