I don't know whether it's in the NAFEX library, but there is a book, Plum Crazy: A Book About Beach Plums, by Elizabeth Post Muril. Originally published by Crown, it is available through AddAll.com. If memory serves me right, it contains a lot of utilization info. -- Sam Brungardt, St. Paul, Minn.

Subject: [NAFEX] Beach Plum
If you're interested in beach plum you might want to check out this web site:
http://www.beachplum.cornell.edu/index.html
It's about efforts to try to develop the beach plum as an agricultural crop (mainly for the NorthEast).
I've also heard the comment by a BYFG member that it tastes good, but there's only a small amount of
flesh between the pit and skin. I have no personal experience with them. I've been intrigued by them
but had figured that they wouldn't thrive on my clay/loam soil. It's good to hear that someone has
them successfully on clay, so maybe they would survive.
Sincerely,
