[NAFEX] Surround Alternatives

Lee,

Have you tried the nematodes? I'm not convinced that they make a huge dent,
but I have had success using shotgun approaches to difficult pests: many
things that work a little working synergistically... Neem, Surround,
Nematodes, and traps, for instance.

I'll put in my two cents on Surround: I've used it for about three
years, applying it with a Stihl backpack sprayer. My yields have been
very low, despite the fact that I get very good coverage and apply it
frequently. A couple of years ago I thought maybe I was applying it
too frequently or that the force of the blower was knocking off the
fruit.

This year, so far, I've started out with once a week spraying right
after petal fall, mixing sulfur in to control scab. There's still
many fruitlets on the trees, but many -- my offhand guess is 80
percent -- are showing curculio damage. Any insights? I'm hoping not
to go back to spraying imidan.

By the way, I'm in Zone 5 in New York's Hudson Valley.
