Sounds like a new twist on phishing. Always check origins and routing. Here
Amber alerts are texted to cell phones via the carrier and are coded for
authenticity, and you must subscribe.
Sending a false report sounds like wire fraud or something else criminal.
Maybe impersonating a police agency? Maybe one of the LE types can find out
Had a lot of trouble with lost, stolen and missing horse flyers until I
replied that without a case number and police department contact person to
verify the report I wasn't going to act or forward any. You would be
surprised how many people sell horses without an enforceable contract and
then wonder why things get screwed up, and call the buyer a thief.
