This is probably of pedantic interest only, but I think the chip can
actually be either endian.  However, Tru64 UNIX (formerly Digital
Unix, formerly OSF/1), OpenVMS, Linux, the BSD variants, and Windows
NT all run on Alpha in little endian.  I believe the Tandem/NSK port
was going to use it in big endian.  Considerable fun is expected to
be had as HP uses the little endian Tru64 as an organ donor for the
big endian HP-UX.
