I figured it out.  Had I bothered to read INSTALL I would have noticed that
I use gmake.

*BSD are different animals than Linux.  I suggest using a package.

Make stops with:

tds_configs.h, no such file or directory.

This doesn't happen when I do a build with Linux.  The file exists under
/include.  I'm pretty green when it comes to FreeBSD.
