Yes, I agree. I think the question was originally about what they *will*
do, though, rather than what they *should* do.
I do agree that it is misguided for producers of free content to try to
"keep corporations from using their work". The goal *should* be to "keep
corporations from mis-using their work".
*That's* what I feel By-SA does (but of course, other people may have
different ideas about what constitutes "mis-use").
On the other hand, for skittish artists who are wary of corporations, it
might be a decent starting point. Using copyleft won't necessarily deter
*all* corporate uses, but it will probably deter the "exploitive" uses
that those artists are actually scared of.

Lots.

Yes, and the corporation may greatly increase the degree of mainstream
distribution of the copylefted work as well as raise awareness of it.
Corporations are machines. Sometimes they're a benefit and sometimes
they're a hazard. The mistake lies in thinking that they *are* people,
simply because they are constructed from people. But corporations are
*less* than the sum of their parts.
That's because we haven't yet deployed a better way to organize people
on that scale. It is possible that the free culture and commons-based
production *is* that "better way". But the "commons-based enterprise" is
not as mature as the "corporate enterprise", so it will take time for
that to be realized.
Cheers,
Terry
