All
I have some important news that I was able to announce at the TTP event in Munich last week which I hope you will like.
For some time now academic sites have faced growing problems finding training for Microfocus (Novell, NetIQ and SUSE) products. Management have been concerned that if trained staff leave they will not be able to find training to bring new people up to speed. Well, this has now changed and all at zero cost to the academic site.
We have announced the new Academic Training Partner Program. The primary purpose of this program is to allow commercial training material to be used within the curriculum but as a side benefit the site has the rights to use the material to educate those who could then potentially teach it to others ie their own staff.
Very simply, and to keep this email short, all materials that used to be classified as self-study, all materials from the ATT classes, all material from bespoke courses, including all pdf manuals in editable form and the associated virtual machines, are now available free of charge to those who join the program. Those studying the materials to potentially teach will also have access to the full On-Demand training library, again free of charge.
Please look at the link: https://training.novell.com/academic/
As I said I feel this is a major announcement for the academic customers and has huge potential.
All of the materials are editable and as there are no restrictions on use within the site it is possible to take parts of courses and combine them into something new that will fit your needs. Maybe at day one you will not have the people to teach this material but if you know of someone who could then they can use this material to deliver the course for you and you only pay them for their time. Others can learn by self-study, the choice is yours and you are in control.
So what do you need to do in order to join up?
1) Go to the page https://training.novell.com/academic/
2) At the bottom of the page choose the button to Sign up as an Academic Training Partner.
During the signup process you will be asked for a tax number - use the number 42 - and for a DUNS number - use NA - as we dont use these.
Don't forget you can sign up as a department or part of your organisation and not as the organisation as a whole. Just add your department name into the partner name field.
If you have any problems with this signup process email partnernet-emea AT partnernetprogram.com in EMEA or partnernet-americas AT partnernetprogram.com in America or partnernet-ap AT partnernetprogram.com if you are in Asia/Pacific.
3) Once your partner application has been processed you will receive an email from Shirley Reynolds with some additional questions about contact names as these will be the people we grant access to the training materials.
4) Once everything has been setup you will then receive a welcome email and details of how to gain access to the materials. This will happen from the first week of April.
5) Once you have completed the process you will be able to return to the webpage listed in (1) and login to the partner pages using your Microfocus ID - the one you use for the NCC.
Full details of the program and the benefits will follow from the website, emails and the Forum that we will setup for members. There is no catch though, its free and designed to help you.
Please feel free to pass this information to anyone else within your organisation who you think will be interested. Don't forget though this is only open to academics and those listed in the webpage as being eligible to take part in the program.
If you have any questions, please come back to me directly.
Kind regards
Peter
