Since the beginning of the 1970s, the artist Paul Tschinkel is documenting his artistic environment. He portrays artists, curators, art critics, art dealers and
exhibitions that had and still have tremendous impact on the developments in contemporary art with their works, presentations and publications.
Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons, Louise Bourgeois, Kiki
Smith, Laurie Anderson, Nam June Paik, Robert Mapplethorpe, Lee Krasner and Mark Kostabi are just a few of the artists that Tschinkel accompanied in the last thirty years.
For the series “innertubevideo”, launched in 1974, Tschinkel portrayed over a decade
the most energetic bands and musicians of the emerging Punk and NewWave movement.
Paul Tschinkel presents the highlights of these video documentations, with the focus on art, photography and music in two days screening on 20th and 21st. at Freies
Museum Berlin.
Unique portrays of fascinating artist and musicians and a intimate documentation on Robert Mapplethorpe, which was never shown to the public before are part of the program. Discussions and Artist Talks will accompany the screening.
The screening is presented in cooperation with VideoArtWorld and is moderated by Paul Tschinkel and the chief editor of VideoArtWorld Alanna Lockward
