I'd go with e3 then...
e3 is a full-screen, user-friendly text editor with an interface
similar to that of either WordStar, Emacs, Pico, Nedit, or vi.
As that would make most ppl happy I think :)
Not to mention it's asm-only. Though it does have a C version for other
than x86/x86_64 arches.
