Mycoremediation may help with protecting water - in WA, Paul Stamets of
Fungi Perfecti is developing filtration beds / swales of mycelium in
burlap bags, or wood chippings, which intercept surface waters
(contaminated by livestock waste) before they impact the shellfish
producers in the Puget Sound. The fungi take out the N and kill the
majority of the pathogenic or disruptive bacteria loads.
