Emilia Hazelip
Emilia Hazelip (1938 - February 1, 2003) was a Catalan organic gardener,
former Merry Prankster, and pioneer of the concept of synergistic
gardening. Her farming methods were inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka after
reading his book; "The One-Straw Revolution" in 1977 after it was first
translated into English.

Practioners of Masanobou Fukuoka's No-Till agricutlure methodology have
incurred many complications when planting in non-japanese soil. Emilia
Hazelip adapted his No-till method to be successful in French
ecosystems. There are many lessons to be learned even if the viewer is

Emilia Hazelip nació el mismo año en que Masanobu Fukuoka comienza a
perfilar su Agricultura Natural, un sistema agrícola sin laboreo que
supuso a nivel mundial la primera gran reforma agronómica desde que
existe la agricultura. Y tras 17 años de búsqueda personal y profesional
descubre en 1978 el trabajo de este microbiólogo y agricultor japonés,
lo que confirmó sus intuiciones sobre la capacidad autofertilizante del
suelo cuando se respeta su propia dinámica salvaje. Así lo expresa en su
vídeo de Agricultura Sinérgica, único existente en español sobre
agricultura autofértil -editado por ella misma en abril de 1995- en el
que muestra paso a paso la creación de una huerta-jardín comestible
creada sobre un terreno de una hectárea "el trabajo de M. Fukuoka fue la
prueba de que mi intuición era válida, es decir, que el trabajo de la
tierra no es necesario. Pero cuando empecé imitándole, los resultados
que obtenía eran tan malos que rápidamente comprendí la necesidad de
modificar y adaptar su sistema a otras condiciones culturales y
climáticas como eran las de la Europa mediterránea, así nació lo que
convine en llamar Agricultura Sinérgica".
