It's been my experience that what an experienced teacher can impart on the
ground, walking the land and touching the earth, is so much more valuable
than what happens via long distance conference lines
There is no substitute for walking the earth and observing the system, the
first principle of Permaculture
One has to take into consideration the life cycle of computers and other
equipment used as well
To me it is a no brainer to choose to use a limited amount of fuel in order
to plant millions of trees and rehab hundred of thousands of acres
regenerating the earth in such large quantities serves many generations to
come, not just ourselves
Using fuel galvanizes me to ensure my actions really count (not that I'm not
already motivated and not that I wouldn't and don't use other means when I
can)

I agree on the irony of
promoting the use of machines to plant, and jets to fly to planting
conferences, in order to plant trees to counter the burning of fuels in those
machines and jets. Can't the conferences and workshops be online?
