Subject: [permaculture] Introducing the Upstate NY Permaculture Network
Date: Sun, 4 Apr 2010 11:54:25 -0400
Last month, the 2010 Upstate NY Permaculture Gathering met in the
Gear Factory and traded our ideas, questions, and ourselves. Thanks to
the organizing work of the Syracuse community of permaculture
practitioners--especially the crew at Alchemical Nursery--folks from
Buffalo to Albany and points above, below, and in-between had a day to
network and put faces to the growing permaculture movement.
During the Open Space session a crew assembled to plan an internet-
based network for sharing and discussion about permaculture in Upstate
NY. The first manifestation of this is found at: http://upstateNYpermaculture.Net
The Upstate NY Permaculture Network is an email list for respectful,
open discussion of permaculture and especially for social and
ecological issues related to permaculture design in New York State’s
northern counties. Messages to the list will be posted on the website
and forwarded to other social networking applications.
The Upstate NY Permaculture Network is both an audience and a portal
for permaculture news, events, and resources. Teachers, students,
farmers, gardeners, organizers and individuals seeking the
permaculture community can use this network to connect.
The Upstate NY Permaculture Network is a place to promote classes, ask
questions, share designs and to organize face-to-face networking. The
Network will fill a niche that allows organizers in the larger
Northeastern region and worldwide to find and reach out to our local
networks within upstate New York and vice versa.
