We talk alot on this program about organic produce and it's everywhere
nowadays - supermarket shelves, green grocers, farmers markets.
*
But it wasn't always so. In fact the pioneers of organic food production in
this country were considered dangerous radicals not so long ago.
Back in 1972 a group of passionate supporters of organic farming based in
Tasmania, formed a group called the Organic Gardening and Farming Society of
Tasmania.
After 37 years the group has decided to disband and held its final meeting
last weekend.
*In this report*: Graeme Stevenson, member of Organic Gardening and Farming
Society of Tasmania, author of "Ahead of Their Time" about the society. The
book is published by Dunghill Press, Somerset, Tasmania
