Club Med Champs Elysées

Patrick Blanc's vertical garden at the Club Med space on the Champs-Elysées contains plants meant to represent the five
continents, to help set the mood for … would-be travelers planning their organized voyages around the planet. It's all
part of the group's effort to go upscale, creating a space that also incorporates modern design and a multitude of
screens projecting images of faraway locales in a space it calls "an embassy of dreams." Blanc's wall is lit at night
and visible from the exterior. [link]

Hotel Pershing Hall

French interior designer and architect Andrée Putman asked Patrick Blanc to design the spectacular and much talked-about
30-meter vertical garden in the courtyard of the … Pershing Hall hotel in the 8th arrondissement in 2001. It
incorporates more than 250 different plant varieties and adds another dimension to Putman's uber-chic modern design in
the 19th-century building (and one-time residence of Gen. John J. Pershing). [link]

Musée du Quai Branly

Inaugurated a year ago, the Jean Nouvel-designed Musée du Quai Branly is dedicated to primitive art from around the
world. A 21st-century building in the heart of … 19th-century Paris, it is located on a patch of prime real estate in
the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. If the museum and Nouvel's architecture has been controversial, Patrick Blanc's striking
plant walls covering the administration building have captured the imaginations of nature-starved Parisians. [link]

Fondation Cartier
The plant wall at the entrance of the Jean Nouvel-designed Fondation Cartier was planted nearly a decade ago and has
never been trimmed. "We have a gardener who comes in … every two or three months to replace plants if necessary or clear
out dead leaves," says Hélène Kelmachter, a curator at the Fondation Cartier. "But it's never been cut and it's grown
quite a bit since 1998. It takes a lot less maintenance than a garden. What's interesting about the work of Patrick
Blanc is that he proceeds like a painter. He anticipates the way the plants will develop and the colors that will emerge
according to the seasons, so it's not always the same. He really works like an artist." [link]
