Fat chance of that happening! For the most part, the fat cats who
lost their property in Cuba deserved it. I think in coming years we'll
see the same thing happen in the US, and rightly so. All those huge
farms need to be broken up, either by a law being passed that no person
or corporation can own more than 100 acres of land or by the simpler
mode of an outraged and desperate outflux of the poor from cities to the
countryside who just take the land.
The law passed to help former slaves after the Civil War would be a
great framework to start from -- every family gets 40 acres and a mule.
That will be great campaign slogan for a progressive candidate in
2012 -- Forty Acres and a Mule!
