why (apparently) mulch materials don't cause N-starvation for plants in contrast to just laying other types of organic matter just on top of the soil?
Just wondering about this after reading some composting tips, where they say that unfinished compost should not be laid on top of the soil, because it can provoke N-starvation. So why mulch (like straw for instance) doesn't
