Hi Chuck,
Bob Flowerdew in _Bob Flowerdew's Complete Book of Companion Gardening_
says the following about grapes:
"Grapes are aided by blackberries, hyssop, sage and mustard. Legumes
should be incoprorated if they are put down to grass. Grapes have been
thought since classical times to be inhibited by Cypress spurge, laurels,
radish and cabbages. Asparagus grown underneath will not compete for
light and the berries help by distracting birds."
I can't vouch for any of that info, but it may be worth playing with some
of those plant combos. Good luck!
