OK, for all you kudzu-heads out there, Dan
Hemenway of Barking Frogs Permaculture has
published his "Kudzu Utilization Project" essay at
his website, www.barkingfrogspermaculture.org .
This is not a finished "design", or a "standard
design", but rather an application of permaculture
principles to a specific problem.
In the US, kudzu is considered invasive, but the
Chinese and Japanese have no problems with kudzu,
because they use it. Its rampant growth is
beneficial because that yields a lot of useful
plant matter. when dried (sun-dried of course),
it reportedly has half the btus of an equivalent
amount of coal! And rabbits love the foliage.
Besides these and other interesting ideas on uses
for kudzu, which grows "rampantly", the essay also
has a couple of pages on permaculture principles
which folks may find interesting. It's a pdf
document, at
www.barkingfrogspermaculture.org/kudzu.pfg .
