The Chadwick Garden is currently undergoing a revival, with abandoned areas being restored to production and new designs. It is the best mixed food garden I've seen, with some areas approaching food forest status. I've attached a couple pictures from my book, West Coast Food Forestry (on disc), if you'd like to see what some of these areas look like. I believe that the trees, shrubs, and other perennials planted in this garden (and others like it) are one of the main factors for its continued existence, as they provide a structure and continuity through all the changes and periods of neglect.
