Does anyone here experiment with terraced gardens on slopes.
Sounds to me like it would be a standard permaculture method
to maximize plant growth using maximum rainfall and conserve maximum
water-borne nutrients.
I have some long curving, high raised beds side by side (about 12 long beds)
following the contour along a slope.
Recent 5" rain stayed in the ditches between the beds; some overflow occured
between a few of them. Nutrient-rich
was conserved in ditches to be absorbed gradually by the beds. Some of the gardens looked almost like chinampas for a
few days. These techniques ought to be SOP in permaculture design.
