Hi,
You might start with Mel Bartholomew's Square Foot
Gardening method (www.squarefootgardening.com). While
not strictly Permaculture it is somewhat in harmony
with the Earth. His method is being used around the
world by many people to grow a lot in a very small
space (16 square feet). I have a friend here that fed
7 people from 32 square feet(two SFGs).
Mel grew 64 stalks of corn in 16 square feet. You
will see the photograph on his website.
Sometimes you just have to show people and even then
some people will just not believe their own senses.
Good luck,
Leon
